It’s not every day you spot a wallaby in a shopping centre car park - but thanks to the quick thinking of some local legends, this little family’s story has a beautiful ending.
For several weeks now, our volunteers have been working tirelessly in the Grampians bushfire disaster zones - rescuing, treating, and caring for wildlife caught in the devastation.
Many weeks ago, Dr Audrey and darter Oliver came across a little wallaby in the fire zone – her burns were minor, but she had a painful toe infection. She was our first beacon of hope after so much devastation.
As if losing your home to fire once wasn’t devastating enough, this private land was burnt twice leaving behind a wallaby and ringtail possum that needed care.
Through long days, sleepless nights, and heartbreaking rescues, our rescue team two has given their all to help wildlife caught in this devastating bushfire crisis.
Deep in the charred remains of the Grampians, something miraculous happened on an isolated sandy track after spotting a wedge-tailed eagle struggling on the ground.
