When a young kangaroo was trapped inside a greenhouse at Greenhills Primary School in Greensborough, the local wildlife guardian angel, Susanna, didn’t hesitate to call for help.
As a trusted contact for the school and a passionate advocate for the local kangaroo population, Susanna ensured help was on the way.
Vets For Compassion’s Narelle and a fellow rescuer, Courtney, quickly arrived. Though calm initially, the Kangaroo became understandably anxious as the team worked to get closer. The situation required a careful and creative approach to keep stress minimal.
The school’s groundskeeper suggested a unique strategy – darting the roo from the top of a shipping container. The angle proved tricky for a blowpipe. Sneaking from around a greenhouse, Narelle’s steady hand and expert skills from the ground got the job done. With precision and care, the young boy was safely sedated.
After a thorough health check and face time consultation with our vet, the little kangaroo was deemed fit and healthy. He was transported to the nearest safe location and released back into the wild. He was watched over till he hopped away.
