A young male kangaroo found himself in a tricky spot, lost in the suburban streets of Pakenham, dangerously close to a busy freeway.

Seeking refuge in Megan’s front yard, neighbours quickly called for help.

Nicole from Wildlife Victoria was the first on the scene, and within 45 minutes, our darter rescuer Mel arrived to tranquillise and rescue the kangaroo under veterinary supervision humanely. Thanks to Dr Chris, we’re thrilled to share the great news! While the kangaroo had a few shallow wounds, scratches, and minor nail wear, he was otherwise in top shape!

He was safely transported back to his natural habitat after receiving vitamin injections to ward off myopathy and wound care. He came out of sedation smoothly, drank his worming syrup happily, and soon hopped alongside his local mob, happy and healthy.

Spotted the next day, he was enjoying the sunshine and fresh grass, a true testament to the power of teamwork and compassion.

Let’s give a big thanks to our amazing rescue team and everyone who made this success story possible!

A huge thanks to our volunteer rescuers for their commitment to this challenging rescue.
