Karl Dawson

Rescuer & Darter

Karl is a wildlife rescuer/darter with over 15 years of experience assisting injured and displaced native wildlife across the Macedon Ranges and surrounding regions.

Over the years he has attended countless rescues often responding to animals impacted by roads, habitat loss and other human-related pressures. These experiences have given him a deep respect for the resilience of Australia’s native wildlife and the importance of people stepping in when animals are in trouble.

Koalas in particular hold a special place for Karl and he built his wildlife shelter to help rehabilitate them.

Being part of the wildlife rescue community is incredibly rewarding. Every rescue is different, and it is always meaningful to work alongside dedicated people who share a commitment to helping wildlife.

Outside of wildlife rescue and running his own wildlife shelter, he is a keen  photographer and an avid tech geek. Karl enjoys capturing images of wildlife and landscapes, and is always interested in how technology can support wildlife conservation and rescue efforts.

Karl is passionate about protecting Australia’s native wildlife and supporting efforts that improve outcomes for animals in need.
