Michael began his veterinary career in mixed practice in Bendigo. His mentor Dr Tony Mellor encouraged him to think laterally to solve animal health problems. This helped with the cats and dogs but also the ostriches, emu, snakes, cattle, horses and pigs.
Working as a small animal vet in the UK for 4 years taught Michael how much work can really be achieved in a day.
Since 2010 Michael has been travelling at least once a year to India to assist in Animal Birth Control and Anti-Rabies programs. He loves the country, the people and the animals there.
Michael has been co owner of the East Bentleigh Veterinary Clinic since 2003.
He aims to develop a modern clinic here in Melbourne but also to use its resources, equipment, contacts and clients to assist those NGO in India to develop their capacity to improve animal welfare and veterinary standards.
He finds working with the passionate and skilled staff of NGO like WVS and HART (Nepal) and DAR motivating and intends to continue this balance between East and West.
